Boarding Schools' Dance Programs
Do you "just want to dance?" Do you view the creative outlet possible only through dance as a necessary part of your boarding education? Do you prefer one kind of dance over another? No matter what, there is sure to be a boarding school with a dance program that is perfect for you.
At Victoria Ballet Academy, dance is so important that ballet lessons are a daily part of education. One student, Alena, tells us that dance is a necessary part of her day. "It really helps you concentrate by breaking up academics."
The dance program at the Academy is built around enhancing balance, coordination, and physical strength; many students have left this school well-prepared for a professional dance career. "It's a very professional environment here," Alena says. "I feel like I’m advancing a lot." No matter what your end goals, you will learn many valuable mental and physical lessons in a dance program.
At Saint Michael's University School they have their own hip hop and break dance crew, The 2ne Ups. "We're associated with the hip-hop intramural, but we practice well beyond the set hours of those classes, due to pure enjoyment," says Mina, one student.
"Dance is like a rest for your mind."
